Terms of Service
The plain-language version.
Use this calculator at your own risk. It is a benchmarking tool, not legal, tax, or financial advice. The full terms are below.
Use at your own risk
The Layoff Calculator is provided as an editorial benchmarking tool. The estimates it produces — severance ranges, tax withholding, runway, WARN flags, fairness verdicts — are calculated from public data and industry surveys. They are informational only. They are not legal advice, not tax advice, not financial advice, and not a substitute for talking to an employment attorney, a CPA, or a financial planner who knows your specific situation.
No warranty of accuracy
The data behind the calculator — state income tax rates, unemployment maxes and durations, mini-WARN provisions, industry severance benchmarks — is updated periodically (most recently in 2026-04), but tax rules change, state laws change, and individual circumstances vary in ways the model cannot capture. We make no warranty, express or implied, that the figures are correct, complete, or current as of the moment you read them. Verify anything material with a qualified professional before acting on it.
No account, no signup
You do not need to create an account to use this calculator and we do not offer one. There is no login, no profile, and no stored history of your inputs. See the privacy policy for the full details on what is and is not collected.
